James K Lanter M.D. ORTHOPEDIC HAND SURGERY
James Lanter, M.D., orthopedic hand surgeon, earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis, Tenn. and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Tulane University in New Orleans. He is fellowship trained in both hand and microvascular surgery (Duke University Medical Center) and reconstructive spinal surgery (Gainesville, Fla.). Dr. Lanter is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has more than 20 years of experience treating upper extremity disorders.
Persistent or recurring hand and wrist pain should be evaluated by a
physician familiar with both the anatomy and pathology of the upper
extremity and treatment should begin as soon as possible to minimize
disability and dysfunction. The Bellefonte Orthopedic Hand Center
specializes in orthopedic conditions and injuries of the hand and wrist

Insurance and Payment Information
We accept most insurance plans including Medicare. Co-payments are required at the time of your visit. If you are a self paying patient, payment is expected in full at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, VISA, MasterCard and Discover.
Emergencies
If you have an emergency, the OLBH Emergency Department operates 24 hours a day. If your situation is not emergent, but is urgent and cannot wait for an appointment, OLBH also provides urgent care conveniently located at:

Prescriptions Refills
Patients are responsible for monitoring prescription refills. Please make the physician and nurse aware of the need for refills at the time of your visit. If you are not scheduled for an appointment but need a prescription refill, please call the office during business hours and leave a message for your nurse. We request 48 hours to process refill requests.
Please remember that in certain situations appropriate medical care requires the benefit of a patient examination before a prescription can be filled.
