View our Mission Statement
As a member of the Appalachian Osteopathic Postgraduate Training Consortium, OLBH serves as a teaching facility for graduates of osteopathic schools of medicine. Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital offers future physicians an American Osteopathic Association Internship program and a fully-accredited Family Practice Residency program.
Do
you have the desire to work in a family-oriented community, nestled in the
hills of Northeastern Kentucky, where you could observe some of the area’s
most highly respected and skilled medical professionals, and above all,
help hundreds of patients in need? Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital
may be the place for you.
We invite you to take a closer look at the intern training program offered
at OLBH. The program offers a one-year traditional internship
followed by a two-year family practice residency. As part
of the hospital’s ongoing efforts to offer innovative solutions to
the healthcare problems facing the residents of Appalachia, the mission
of the program is to select and train people who are dedicated to providing
quality healthcare in rural areas.
The
training is specifically designed to prepare interns for the unique demands
of a practice and includes weekly educational lectures, morning report,
and teaching rounds. You will be provided the opportunity to expand your
knowledge base, while working with a variety of healthcare professionals
in a multi-disciplinary environment.
The program offers a commitment to onsite teaching by dedicated physicians.
Residents are prepared to practice a full scope of comprehensive rural inpatient
and outpatient care, from newborn to geriatric. The program offers weekly
didactic lectures, morning report, and teaching rounds from a medical staff
consisting of some of the country’s most renowned physicians, including
a vast array of specialists. The family practice clinic incorporates traditional
aspects of family medicine training with current advances in Osteopathic
principles, practice, and medical technology. Each resident has the opportunity
to put his/her training into practice under the guidance of a physician
mentor. Each resident is responsible for a panel of patients that mirrors
the demographics of the community.
