Osteopathic Intern & Resident Training Program - Mission Statement
The mission of the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Intern and Resident Training Program is to select and train people who will provide quality health care in rural areas.
The training is specifically designed to prepare interns and residents for the unique demands of a rural practice. The presence of the program at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital offers a unique opportunity to educate a variety of health professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment and in collaboration with A-OPTIC and other community programs. Quality training can best be provided in an atmosphere that supports the professional and personal development of all participants.
Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Intern and Resident Training Program is part of a rural health care initiative mandated by the state legislature of Kentucky to offer innovative solutions to the many health care problems facing Appalachia.
Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Intern and Resident Training Program blends the academic and service missions of the hospital and local health care organizations and professionals. The Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine's mission is to provide and support progressive programs of instruction, training, research and service that are responsive to the health science needs of the Commonwealth, students and the surrounding community. In an effort to realize these goals, the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine is committed to developing a comprehensive health care system for Kentucky.
The training program is a dynamic program dedicated to educational excellence in a rural community setting. It prepares osteopathic practitioners for careers in rural medicine who are dedicated to meeting the health care needs of the people of rural Kentucky.
