Physician Referral
and Health Services Information at your Fingertips
You have probably seen
the telephone number for the CareLine -- (606) 833-CARE (2273)
-- many times in publications and advertisements from Our Lady of Bellefonte
Hospital. However, did you know that by calling this number you are put
in touch with a specialist who can provide you with valuable information
about free community health screenings, available family physicians, pediatricians
and gynecologists, and quality educational opportunities offered by the
hospital?
The CareLine is the OLBH physician referral and information service.
It began as a concept, an idea of one way to make the hospital and its services
more accessible to the community. Today the CareLine provides services
to a vast number of Tri-State residents.
"The CareLine is available to inform people of educational
opportunities, special events, health screenings and general information
about Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital," explained Lori Rambo, OLBH
CareLine coordinator. "We also can assist area residents in
finding a physician that meets their personal needs and preferences with
just one phone call."
The CareLine specialists understand that finding a new physician
for your family's needs can be a difficult decision. Whether you are new
to the area, your insurance coverage has changed, or your child is beginning
school, the CareLine service can refer you to an OLBH physician
who meets your needs. With one phone call, information can be obtained about
a particular physician's specialty, office hours, medical training and board
certifications.
When calling the CareLine for a physician referral, a specialist
will obtain some personal information - address, date of birth, type of
physician you are seeking, insurance information, etc. Once this confidential
information is assessed, you will be matched to a physician whose office
is near where you live or work, accepts your insurance and is capable of
providing quality healthcare services to meet your and your family's needs.
"We will even assist patients with making their first appointment with
the physician's office," Rambo added. "If they are not yet ready
to make a decision about choosing a particular doctor, we are happy to provide
them with an OLBH medical staff directory for further review of the hospital's
available specialists."
The CareLine also can provide you with details about the entire
range of healthcare services and classes provided by the hospital including
free community health screenings, specialized diabetes classes or community
wellness and rehabilitation programs at the OLBH Vitality Center. "Additionally
we often connect families to free, monthly support groups," Rambo said.
A list of regularly offered support groups is included on this page for
your convenience. If you see a particular group in which you are interested,
feel free to contact the CareLine specialists for more information.
When faced with finding a doctor for you or your family, don't hesitate
