OLBH’s commitment to the community extends beyond the hospital’s walls and to more than just the patients in the facility’s hospital rooms. OLBH offers support to residents of the Tri-State through its variety of support groups, including:
Alcoholic's Anonymous
Alcoholic's Anonymous (AA), an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem, offers a forum for members to share experiences. AA gives person-to-person service or "sponsorship" to the alcoholic. The group meets weekly at the Bellefonte Behavioral Health Center on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.; Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday at 8:00 p.m.

Al-Anon
Al-Anon helps families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with problem drinking. The group meets each Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at the Bellefonte Behavioral Health Center.

Alzheimer's support groups
OLBH’s Healthy Community Services program offers assistance to patients and families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease through the hospital’s free Alzheimer’s support groups. The free support groups offer counseling to understand the disease, how to cope with a diagnosis, home safety techniques, support for the caregiver, how to manage long-distance caregiving and care planning for families. OLBH’s Alzheimer’s program is affiliated with the Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Better Breathers support group
The Better Breathers support group provides an opportunity to meet and share experiences, to ask questions and to learn how to develop a better quality of life. The group operates with the following objectives:

To foster health understanding.

To provide recreational activities.

breast cancer support group
OLBH’s breast cancer support group meets monthly at Bellefonte Centre
(1000 Ashland Drive). Each month a new topic is presented to those whose
lives have been affected by a diagnosis of breast cancer.

cardiac express
Cardiac Express provides support for members of the Human Motion
Vitality Center's Cardiac Rehabilitation program. The group's goal is to
provide social opportunities for patients and families who have been
affected by heart disease.

diabetes - adult
The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center offers a support group for
adults living with diabetes. The group is open to diabetics and their
families.

diabetes - youth
The OLBH Diabetes & Wound Care Center’s Camp Quest is a support
group for children with either diabetes or asthma. The support group
meets periodically throughout the year for educational offerings,
activities and support for children and their families living with
diabetes and asthma.

Look Good.Feel Better
Look Good.Feel Better helps women cope with the appearance-related side
effects of cancer treatment by teaching them beauty tips that can help
them enhance their looks and boost their self-images. In addition to
changes in a patient’s physical condition, chemotherapy and radiation
can cause increased susceptibility to infection. Look Good.Feel Better
features experts trained to help patients deal with the physical side
effects of cancer treatment and to promote good hygiene.
Look Good.Feel Better is a free non-medical program offered monthly by
the OLBH Women’s Center in conjunction with the American Cancer Society,
the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the National
Cosmetology Association.

Narcotic's Anonymous
Narcotic's Anonymous is a nonprofit fellowship of men and women for whom
drugs have become a major problem. Meetings are each Monday, Wednesday
and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Bellefonte Behavioral Health Center.

smoking cessation
OLBH offers a free, 12-week smoking cessation support group using the
Cooper - Clayton method and nicotine replacement to assist individuals
in kicking the habit of using tobacco products.
The hospital's smoking cessation support group encourages Tri-State
residents to overcome nicotine dependency, keying into both emotional
and physical needs. The group supports people as they become
non-smokers.
